1/4" 15 ips (IEC/CCIR) First Generation Reel to Reel Tapes
Analog Tone Factory is proud to work with Jason Smith and Grey Matter Audio to make great sounding tape copies of all of our records. Each tape copy is dubbed directly from the master tape, as opposed to being dubbed from a copy. By offering tapes made directly from the master, we are able to get as close as possible to the sound of the master tape itself and avoid generational loss.
We are using a Sony APR-5002 as a transport to play back the master tape, but the sound is going through a Doshi Audio tube tape preamp, completely bypassing the stock Sony electronics. The recording tape machines are a bank of Otari tape recorders with a custom distribution amp system. We are using SM 468 tape stock, as we are fortunate to still have some.
The regular format of our tape copies is 1/4 inch 15 ips IEC/CCIR but other formats are available upon request. Please enquire if interested. At 15 ips, each record fits on two 10.5 inches metal reels, each tape corresponding to a side of the LP. Each set of tapes includes three test tones to calibrate your machine. A high resolution download is also included. Any questions, please ask!

Album Reviews
“A superb-sounding album […] Seven fresh originals that pack a potent punch, swing with a quiet authority and tug at the heartstrings.”
- Bill Milkowski, DownBeat
“The quartet functions like a well-oiled machine […] From the sublime balladry of “No Road” and “Cotton” to the more straight ahead groove and interplay of “Ghostly”, No Filter is a solid set - recorded, performed, packaged and delivered to the highest standards.”
- James Rozzi, Jazziz
“Great musicality without flashiness; a record that one wants to champion both for its beauty and its integrity, and whose freshness belies great musical and artistic maturity.”
- Jean-François Mondot, Jazz Magazine
“Sabbagh’s solos are song-serving and cliché-free. Tuohey is a thoughtful improviser, building ideas with architectural rigor while adeptly comping chords at the same time […] What comes to the fore is songwriting and sensitivity […] The strong original material insures that the album as a whole is highly listenable.”
- Tom Greenland, NYC Jazz Record
“No Filter provides an engaging experience filled with alluring melodies and harmonies and dexterous transitions. It translates into inspired, grown-up music with a fresh taste of youth.”
- Filipe Freitas, JazzTrail
“A resonant, thoughtful effort.”
- Peter Hoetjes, All About Jazz
“The music is filled with enthralling contrasts of light and dark shadings, with Sabbagh’s saxophone and Tuohey’s guitar intersecting beautifully as they dance around the rhythm section.”
- Fair Hedon
“Both soloists are superb. […] My casual stance changed to one of deep concentration as the unique charts wove their magic.”
- Anthony Kershaw, Audiophilia
